Film based on short story by Ambrose Bierce (Tales of Soldiers and Civilians, 1891) of the same title, showing the perception of death by a Civil War soldier.

The Basket (Der Korb). Rated PG. Color, 1999, MGM. 104 min.
Basketball, opera, prejudice in Pacific North-West America towards Germans and their orphans during World War I.

Behind the Lines, Rated-R, Rafford Films, Ltd., 1997.
Showing treatment for WWI English soldiers; arguably the best English poets of WWI, Siegfried Sassoon and Wilfred Owen are treated for emotional problems at the same hospital; emotional treatment for "shell shock," "war neurosis," which today is referred to as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

The GroundTruth: The Human Cost of War (working title), also known as, The Ground Truth, Dir: Patricia Foulkrod, rated R for disturbing violent content and language, 72 min., 2005.

Let There Be Light, Dir: John Huston, black and white, 58 min., 1945, released by US Army 1985.
Showing the treatment of US Army soldiers at US Army hospital for "shell-shock." Intended to show the American employers our soldiers could be productive workers. Held from distribution by US Army for fear the film would send the wrong message; that American soldiers were weak and not able to withstand the rigors of combat

The Lost Battalion Not rated. 2002. Made for TV movie. Dir. Russell Mulcahy.
WW I, US Army Major C. W. Whittlesey commands a composite infantry battalion of 77th Division of the New York National Guard citizen-soldiers. For five days, against overwhelming odds, Major Whittlesey refuses to surrender to German forces. For his actions, Major Whittlesey was awarded the Medal of Honor. (Note: Major Whittlesey committed suicide shortly after the war.)
